Skeleton Coast is the northern part of the coast of the Atlantic Ocean,
Namibia. Dense fog, strong storms, causing many ships in the past
aground along the Skeleton Coast. Desolate coastline has become known as
the largest ship graveyard in the world.
They were stranded and managed to swim through the surf and reach the
shore, still have to face the desert, without water beach. The north
coast of Terrace Bay is dominated by sand dunes that high. It's the most
interesting part of the Skeleton Coast.
2. Kolmanskop
Kolmanskop is a ghost town in the Namib desert, a few kilometers from
the port town of Lüderitz. Many Germans settled in this area after the
diamond was found here in 1908. Encouraged by the great wealth of the
first diamond miners, the town Kolmanskop was built in the architectural
style of a German town with facilities and institutions, including
schools, hospitals ballroom, casino, and the first tram in Africa.
Unfortunately, the city becoming obsolete after the first world war. At
that time the diamond trade declined sharply, and the residents of the
city chose to move and seek livelihoods elsewhere. Kolmanskop completely
abandoned in 1984. Currently, Kolmanskop known as a place for
photographers to sharpen their skills. Many photographers hunting photos
here. City without inhabitants is also famous among tourists who want
to see one of uniqueness in Namibia more closely.
Located in the Namib Desert, Sossusvlei is shaped like a large clay pot
surrounded by giant red sand dunes. Tsauchab River flows through the
desert, and the rare flood waters owned by the vegetation that survives
in the clay.
During sunrise and sunset, the color of the sand dunes, constantly
changing, and provides an opportunity for photographers who visit.
Fierce desert winds that constantly change shape and texture of the sand
dunes, giving an ever-changing landscape of the desert.
4. Fish River Canyon
Fish River Valley in southern Namibia is probably just one level below
Grand Canyon in Arizona in its glory. The valley is truly enormous. The
canyon has a giant gorge, a total of about 160km (100 miles) long, up to
27 km wide and in places almost 550 meters.
5. Swakopmund
Swakopmund is Namibia's largest coastal city and a popular beach resort
for a vacation. The dunes nearby provides several activities such as
sandboarding, horse riding and quad biking, while the Swakopmund beach,
providing plenty of surf and sand objects.
