As a UNESCO World Heritage city, Penang's capital George Town is like a
living museum, crammed full of historic buildings and colourful streets.
The best way to tour it is on foot.
In George Town, you can enjoy a variety of colonial heritage buildings
that well-preserved. Some examples of these include City Hall, built in
1903, Fort Cornwallis, historical sites marking the landing of Captain
Francis Light in 1786, Kuan Yin Teng or Goddess of Mercy Temple, Masjid
Melayu Lebuh Acheh, The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, and more .
2. Kek Lok Si Buddhist Temple
Kek Lok Si is a temple complex that located in Air Itam which includes
the seven storey Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas, said to be one of South
East Asia's most beautiful. A huge bronze statue of Kuan Yin is a
popular attractions here.
3. Batu Ferringhi
Batu Feringghi adjacent to the Gulf Bahang and Tanjung Bungah. Here you
can dive and swim through the crystal clear waters. As well as diving
and swimming, you can also find plenty of hotels, restaurants serving a
variety of foods, as well as souvenir shops.
The temple's most famous feature is a 33 meter long (108 feet) Reclining
Buddha statue housed in the main shrine. Wat Chaiyamangalaram
(sometimes shortened to Wat Chaiya) is the most popular of Malaysia's
Thai-style Buddhist temples. It is located in Lorong Burma just outside
George Town's historic heritage zone.
5. Penang Butterfly Farm and Botanical Garden
After visiting the tourist places that crowded in the city, visiting the
Penang Botanic Gardens is the perfect solution. Penang Botanic Gardens
is a public park located in George Town on the island of Penang,
Malaysia. In this park you can walk and take pictures of the different
types of plants and trees there.
Penang Butterfly Farm is located in Teluk Bahang, and one of Penang’s most popular tourist attractions. The eight-hectare butterfly sanctuary
houses an impressively varied collection of butterfly species as well as
an assortment of other insects. It features more than 4,000 butterflies
from more than 120 groups as well as other insects and reptiles.
