Limboto Lake in Gorontalo Indonesia

Limboto Lake covering an area of 3,000 hectares clearly has an important role to the surrounding area as a waterproof area. The location of the Lake is located in the administrative district of Limboto, Gorontalo.
 
In addition to having a significant role for the life of the surrounding community, this lake is one of the places of interest as a tourist destination. Early morning or dusk is the best time to visit Limboto Lake. When the sun rises or sinks, more vibrant view of the Lake by the gleam of the sunlight that falls on the surface of the water of the Lake and the color of the sky changes color.
Fishing, touring the Lake with boating, or enjoying the view of lotus flowers and water hyacinth bloom are some of the attraction that you can do at this Lake. The richness of the Lake is a fresh water fish can also be used for fishing.

Limboto Lake is also the mouth of five major rivers, namely: Bone Bolango River, Daenaa River, Bionga River, Alo River, and Molalahu Rivers. The water of Lake Limboto flowed through the River Topadu which flows into the Gulf of Tomini with a distance  about 10 miles.
During the 1950s, the Lake has a depth of up to 27 m was once a cornerstone of amphibious aircraft landed lays President Sukarno. Bung Karno made a visit to Gorontalo. Unfortunately, this year is getting more shallow lake only. The current expected depth of the Lake is only approximately 3-7 m. The superficiality of Limboto Lake caused by erosion and sedimentation resulting farming activities that do not heed the soil conservation and forest openings. This should be a concern to the relevant parties considering the important role of the Lake.
 
However, keeping the Lake becomes a shared responsibility. When left then predicted 15 years again it will disappear or flat to the surface of the ground. In fact, Lake Limboto very vital role as rainwater catchment to prevent flooding in Gorontalo.
